                                AILEEN

WHAT TYPES OF FOOTAGE ARE USED IN THE OPENING? WHY DO YOU THINK THE DIFFERENT TYPES HAVE BEEN USE.
In the first six minutes of the documentry we see different types of media blended together to recap the long story in a short period of time such as narration AKA (the voice of god), pictures and footage of her surroundings and the enviroment she grew up in.

WHAT DOCUMENTARY TECHNIQUES CAN YOU IDENTIFY IN THE SEQUENCE.
There is a variety of documentry techniques used in the opening, such as;
  • Voice Overs
  • Archival Footage
  • Reconstructions
  • Montage Of Pictures
WHAT INFORMATION IS GIVEN BY THE VOICEOVER? WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE VOICEOVER AND THE IMAGES.
The voiceover gives basic information about Aileen and the reason she was exicuted, the basic information consists of such things as her age, where she came from and how many men she has killed.

WHAT DO WE FIND OUT ABOUT THE CENTRAL SUBJECT.
In the first few minuets we find out that aileen killed seven men and was only sentenced for six, she was put on death row and that she lived in Michigan and basic information about her e.g (age)

HOW IS THE OPENING SEQUENCE OF A DOCUMENTARY SIMILAR TO THE OPENING SEQUENCE OF A FICTION FILM.
Such elements as backround music, opening credits and a begining middle and end to the plot, give the documentary the same opening to a fictional film.

MY FEELINGS TOWARDS AILEEN
After watching this documentary I felt a rush of different emotions. I felt sympathy towards her because of the way her life turned out and the harsh way she grew up, on ther other hand I felt angry at her and a bit disgusted by her actions of killing all those men, for they also had family's.

DID NICK BROOMFIELD  POTRAY THE REAL AILEEN IN HIS DOCUMENTARY
I do not belive that Nick Broomfield potrayed the real Aileen in his documentary because nobody can besides Aileen can really know who she is and what she did, but i think he did a very good job at exposing a different and human side to her that other documentaries couldn't do successfuly.

DO YOU BELIEVE SHE SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED THE DEATH PENALTY
I don't believe that she should have received the death penalty because she killed some of the men in self defence and taking in consideration the cause of her actions, she didn't just kill for fun for no reason (this doesn't excuse her actions though).
